5号車のモハ117-7032はモハ117-32からの改造。普通車指定席のノビノビ座席「クシェット」が設けられている。定員18人で、このうち2人は車椅子対応席だ。
クシェットはかつての開放式2段B寝台とよく似た構成。通路を片側に寄せ、2組の2段式寝台を向かい合わせに配置している。かつての寝台車と異なり屋根の低い117系のため、下段寝台の高さを抑えることで寝台のスペースを確保している。
車椅子対応席は1段式の寝台を直角に並べた形。多機能トイレと出入口のドアが設けられた広いデッキのそばに設けられている。
